For a child in Vienna, boredom is a word not included in their dictionary. Child-development and well-being is very much a key concern in this city. Aside from a lot of cultural (arts, music, dance), and sports development programs, play is an everyday enjoyment for all kids. The city sees to it that every neighborhood has a playground. Sometimes, not just one. In our area alone, there is a playground just a minute's walk from the door of the building. Another is on the opposite side where you just cross a pedestrian lane. Walk on the other cluster of buildings and there'd be more playgrounds, complete with slides, seesaw and swings. There'd also be a big sandbox in which contents are replaced on certain intervals.

Rides (animals and vehicles) are also prolific, not just in the malls but also on the streets. Also, family fun parks have been sprouting in each district which promises really great enjoyment for the kids. I'd post photos of them than bore you with the stories...smile! =)

  1. Playgrounds are very important to a child's development. Aside from the exercise, playgrounds afford children the chance to interact and socialize with other kids.

Great photos. The little boy in the second photo seemed to be quite nervous about his sister's driving. Hahaha :)

  2. Your children look pretty happy! Wish I'd grown up in Vienna. Of course I did ride a merry-go-round sometimes at our local amusement park, sort of like carnivals you see today but this was a permanent group of rides.

Viennese children are fortunate to have wonderful programs cut out for them by the city :)

  4. Remember the Children's playground at the Luneta Park, Panaderos? I was always happy when my mom would take me there, its good that mcd's are putting up play place for kids, I imagine if the phil.govt would construct playgrounds, a week or two and the stuff there are....gone! =D

  10. A city/govt needs to address the needs of the citizens and it's nice that the needs of the youngest, those without a voice yet are being met. I am sure your kids appreciate that; you do to right?

  12. You're kids are lucky to be growing up in a city that takes care of the children's development. Here, living in the city means exposing your kids to the danger of playing on the streets, playing patintero with the jeepneys, tricycles and cars. Children's playground are mostly found in subdivisions, not in the local neighborhood.

  13. Do you also play with sand and soil as a kid Luna?

I remember how then, if a small kid touches the soil, the mom would hurriedly run to him wipe off the hands and wash with water too! Is it really being protective? I was like that to to my daughter (she's born in manila).

Here, the kids are in a box of sand with a pail of water playing as though they are at the beach...and I can see how much fun their having!

  14. Playgrounds are really good for kids especially when they're growing up. Pero these days, parents are only interested in sending their kids to tuition classes even if they're only 5 y/o. My mother deals w/kids ( she operates her education centres ) and I've seen her clients sending their kids to tuition from morning till night! And the kids are only in junior schools. Crazy, diba?

  15. It depends too Kyels, I would opt for my kids to stay at home with me lang but they need to learn German so they need to go to the kindergarten and interact there with other kids, it really is so different now to how it was when we were younger eh...hectic schedule for everyone =(

Your mom has a noble job of looking after the kids...like a second parent to them! Kudos!
