strasse

20 March 08

Mariahilerstrasse is perhaps the busiest street in Vienna especially because this street is where one could do all the shoppping! We used to live near here and going to where the shops are is really easy so imagine the money shed...

The Mariahilfer strasse exit seen above is located at the Westbahnhof of Vienna (what a gloomy day then the rain fell) where travel outside Austria through trains are also available.

  1. I'm having a hard time understanding how you manage to capture all these station, train and bus pictures with so few people in them. Just the time of day, or some other secret? Whenever I'm attempting to photograph a train station I'm always dodging and / or cursing the people in the way. ~Chuck

  3. I can imagine. However... Now that you don't live so close to that shopping mecca, do you really spend less? ;D

  4. I love the bahnhofen of Europe. The blend of old structures and new. When I lived in Germany, I loved going to the stations, whether it was me travelling or to pick up a friend.

  5. Chuck: it could be because there are other exits and I happen to be on the one with less people coming by. =)

  7. Come to think of it Fenix, not really. We actually had 2 kids then and now we have 3. We rent now compared then, I don't know how much hubby gives to his brother as the apartment belongs to my mom in law and we are 2 families living there. And the costs of food and everything is higher than before, so no.

  9. So that's how you pronounce the "B" in German/Austrian signs! As S's! Hahaha

We learn something new everyday. Great pics as always, Gizelle. :)

  11. I commented earlier but there seemed to be an error. Anyway, previously I was just telling you about how I love the windows at the station. I'm always fascinated w/windows as such.
