vanishing sun

30 Dec 08

It was already 9 in the morning, yet, the sun was too lazy to come out. Well, it can't be helped, winter is supposed to be the time when it is hiding, here it would appear to be teasing those who are waiting for a shine, like me!

;-) Happy Skywatching!

I took this shot sometime ago at the outskirts of the city, we were on the train and the mountainside was a sight to behold. The scenery rekindled my love of being somewhere near the mountain, enjoying the simple life just being close to nature.

Being an owner of a city blog and various blog networks exposed to other city daily photoblogs and photography websites. At some point the photos of fellow photobloggers overwhelm me to like and visit the place. Montana and its various mountain ranges is one of those places that has interested me much...(Montana comes from the Spanish word montaña, meaning mountain.)

Montana, also known as the Land of Shining Mountains, takes great pride in its location on the west of US. The Glacier National Park is one of the major tourist attraction there, great for ranching, fishing, relaxing or simply a quiet getaway from the usual city life for a spectacular view of nature (hint: photos!).

There are various Montana Resorts available for lodging. Glacier National Park Lodging offers a wide selection of services located beside one of the largest lakes in Montana, St. Mary.

St. Mary Lodge and Resort is one to consider when going. Boasting of the best dining experience, guests can choose among different types of facilities that best fit their fancies. From Lodges to cabins, tipis, cabins and guest houses, the whole family is ensured to enjoy their stay as each is equipped with furnitures and appliances for your comfort. Rates range from $119 - $450 per night, reasonable I should say, I'd surely book a good package for the whole family.

My older son (almost 6 y.o) seems to have a fondness for the camera and of photos l(ike me). He would often take the camera (even my cellphone) and shoot whatever he fancies. This is one of his shots from last week when these two were goofing around.

Have you visited my kitchen lately? If not, then click on the photos now!

The above dish is duck with orange sauce but the sauche looks yellow than orange lol. I had duck fat mixed with orange juice and it goes perfectly well with the meat and rice.

Ready for some calorie overload? Then take a head of camembert cheese, coat with breadcrumbs and fry! Once in a while wouldn't hurt :D Enjoy!

I have seen some or friends whose tulips started popping up! I'm afraid mine was from last year. A few more weeks I guess will be having new flowers to photograph! Enjoy the coming week!

Today's photos are brought to you by hubby. :-)

I was about to leave and was fixing my hair before the mirror and saw this reflection in front of me. I asked him to take a few shots since I am about to leave for school already.

It is somehow nice that school is only until Thurday so I am able to post for Skywatch regularly. Please pardon my late visits, I'd make sure to drop by as much as I can. Enjoy the weekend!

Today would be food and not sights :) Though Schwarz-Wälder-Kirsch Torte originated in Germany, this treat is well enjoyed here too, and I bet on your part of the world too. I have partiality to the taste of this cake, I prefer the sweeter variation, those that I mostly had in the Philippines as those I had here are sour for my taste.

Recipe for black forest cherry cake is here.

On the other hand, Sacher Torte would be the one rightly called as an Austrian cake. If the above cake includes cherries, this one have apricot jam. Recipe for Sacher Torte is here.

Enjoy!

Waking up with the sun up is a welcome sight to me. Definitely says the cold days are numbered...almost.

Don't be deceived! In the morning it gets really dark, the clouds too heavy as if waiting for the right time to pour down. A few hours later, blueness prevails!

Let me bore you with snow photos for this week!

We have been living in our current place for more or less 5 years now, everyday, this is the street (straße) that the kids and I thread. On all four weathers, we walk on the pavement, on the stones and salt on it, on the mud or rainwater, on dried leaves and on snow.

Opposite this passage and our compound is a playground deliberately build lower on the ground. This is where the photos from yesterday were. The slope makes for a perfect sled hill when ice thickens.

The trees looks like this in autumn...taken from the side of the playground with a view of our building at the background. So which season do you like better?

It snowed the past days, enough for some snowman and sledding...actually sliding down a slope. The playground opposite our building is best for this. So the kids had a blast on the weekend!

Above, you'll see the pail on top of the snowman's head. This snowman was at the kindergarten, built by the kids with the "Pedagoginnen" (kindergarten aunts as we call them) . We later on made another one near our place, that one was smoother, I will post a photo of it tomorrow.

Below, big sister with her yellow sliding disc (I am not entirely sure how this one is called, having a handle), she was kind enough to help the little boy up the slope falling down on their knees at times.

About Me

(^By Notting Hill Gate)

I enjoy both travel and photography. Although I haven’t been all-over the world, I try to document my journey and share it around. Here, my current hometown Vienna, a city I come to love not just for its intrinsic beauty but its overall aura of good vibes, I share bits and pieces of what to see and enjoy. -Marie Gizelle
