citybikes

27 April 08

Dong, in case you want to bike around, you can rent one of the Citybikes. =) I remember posting them last month all in yellow (and some blue). This time its red and blue. The city provides tourists with cheap rent for this. The first hour is free and then one euro for the succeeding hours. And since the city is bike-friendly, you won't even need a GPS, you will never go wrong!
And below are locals on their bikes waiting for the lights to turn green.

flower shop kärtner

28 April 08

For the past months that I have been posting city photos, I chose places which people do not frequent. So for the following days I will take you around the tourist center. I hope you enjoy the flowers, buildings, people and birds found all around the city center.

Edit: I noticed that there are no people around (only someone's skirt caught partly in this photo) but there were actually lots loitering around, I guess it pays to wait a little before clicking the camera. ;-)

pink tulip

24 April 08

Please don't get bored with the tulips, I might be biased with featuring them all the time, but since they only come in spring then I'd give them the space in this blog.

Sometimes, when I see them I just want to pluck them out, too bad its prohibited. Its sad how these pretty flowers live, be beautiful and in a while wither and be nothing...hmmm, pretty much like human life...

tulips in city

24 April 08

I was on my way to the dentist when I saw the so many beautiful flowers in the middle of 3 intersecting streets. I decided to go there later in the day, good thing I was able to get some, even for just this tulip set of multiple-petal pink, white, pink, and red before the battery run out -lol-.

The ones responsible for cleaning is WienWorks. Every morning I see a truck and them all clad in green overalls (very environmental indeed). The man in the photo seem to be trimming the bush...I saw that he was also sweeping the dried leaves that day.

Below are the same pink lawn daisies I posted yesterday...only that the sun was nowhere and so they (like sunflowers) did not open up.

cleaner

21 April 08

The city has begun the spring cleaning program...cutting away extra twigs, fixing fences, removing dead plants and lawn mowing. I saw this machine near my daughter's school. I was glad to have had a few photos of pink lawn daisies and some dandelions on the other side of the lawn (below).

odd gelb

18 April 08

She was the only woman in the village.

Below, you'd see the group of orange tulips that I have been taking pictures of. Imagine the stare I get from people passing by when I kneel down by the roadside. I took this shot from the opposite side of the road, see if you can spot the yellow tulip there...

These 2 colored Tulips amazes me really. Well, they all do, all flowers are amazing, aren't they? Have a nice week everyone! And thank you all for the friendship!

17 April 08

Aside from headaches and laziness, forgetfulness is another effect of the allergies (yeah I blame everything on it). I barely noticed that I was past the 100 post already, thanks to Chuck (Seattle) as he posted his and I was reminded. =)

I went out for fresh air today (and visited a friend) and I was delighted to finally photograph this identifying stickers. If you remember I posted about priority seats last month and how this stickers became controversial for being 'sexist' in a way. So the city came up with this new set where only the pregnant woman remained unchanged (what if there is also a pregnant man in the city?...i wonder)

I reached my friend's place via a double decker train! It is lovingly identified as Wiesel with its logo as the weasel itself.

saku 1

14 April 2008

I took this photo around 10:40-10:50am on my way to pick up my daughter from school. Not only is the neighborhood so peaceful that I like walking here, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom (with very few leaves).

The sky too was so blue that day, I just had to take a photo.

missing summer yellow sunrays

red heat orange bursts

2 October 2007

Ah, I thought it was still Summer but it was actually Autumn. I found these 'small' flowers by the roadside...just growing aimlessly yet they were so beautiful when I came closer for a macro shot! The flowers were about 5-6cm in diameter, much like lawn daisies.

I Spy Sunday meme

For those who want to participate in the meme please include this signature photo and link back to this guideline. Really sorry for being late, pollen allergies got better but the weather changes (warm to cold, cold to warm) is too much to bear!

1. A theme for each Sunday is listed here.

2. Post a photo in your site that best depicts the theme. Fun posts are also welcome. Please post your own photos only. You may post your photo as a second object to your City daily photo.

3. Leave your url on the Sunday post here so we all have a list of who are participating. (I will be doing the Mr. Linky post too soon.)

4. If you would like to suggest themes please do so and if you would like a best post for the week we will work out a voting system.

-This meme is to enhance our skills in the different approaches of photography while at the same time presenting stuff from our City. I surely hope we'll have fun!

bank

19 August 2007 (Floridsdorf)

Bank Austria is one of the oldest bank in Vienna dating as far back as 1855!

The bank has effectively secured many branches and automated machines within the city for customer's convenience.

Below, I spy pigeons! My youngest kid pointed them to us and glad that I have taken a shot before they flew away. (Stare at this photo to see illusion that the side is slanting =D sorry, I'm just having fun with stuff).

I spy something...orange!
A challenge to everyone...I have been thinking of doing this meme but don't have the time to start. Then I was convinced to do it after one Saturday's Photo Scavenger Hunt's theme was 'I Spy.' (Thanks to Ms.TnChick). I had so much fun in that hunt.

The challenge is to post a photo about a something you spied on a Sunday. Whether it be insects, lovers by the lake or just someone passing by you took a photo of.

Welcome to I Spy-Sunday!
tulpe2

By the way, I kept looking closely at this tulip but can't see much pollen...either I wasn't close enough or they might be stuffed in my nose...lol!

Two shots taken from opposite sides of the same train track. These are two of some photos I posted in my other blog, Photography On the Move, a photoblog I created for shots I took while inside the train. I was challenged not only by the movement of the train but the reflections created in the windows and other in between stuff from me and my subject.

I am encouraging everyone also to send in their own contributions of photos taken while inside a train...Sometimes one cannot tell if the photo is really from inside so it is up to those who will submit to send honest shots. Email your contributions to mirage2g(at)gmail.com including your name, url, and a little story about the photo. Thank you!

8 April 2008

It seems I am going to use my old camera as I don't have a problem with its color retention and tolerance with noon heat unlike the new one.

I found orange tulips today, others were also peeking out of their buds and I'll try to see them tomorrow. Sorry for not yet responding to your comments...I will as soon as I get better from the pollen situation.

Thank you all for always dropping by and leaving kind comments, be assured they are truly appreciated.

I enjoy both travel and photography. Although I haven’t been all-over the world, I try to document my journey and share it around. Here, my current hometown Vienna, a city I come to love not just for its intrinsic beauty but its overall aura of good vibes, I share bits and pieces of what to see and enjoy. -Marie Gizelle
