They are the critters which were a real nuisance in my garden. They destroyed some of my flowering bushes. But your photo is very nice!

Those Schnecke look pretty comfortable on the floor. I've never seen a snail race, but we do have a couple of communities near Seattle that have races of a related creature, the slug.
