My World 11 - The Danube at Night
6 Sept 08
The Danube at night, since skyrise buildings have been built near it, the lights give off a nice background.
Below, you'd see the train tracks and the U6 station Neue Donau. (literally New Danube) This station along with other stations, coming from Spittelau until Floridsdorf are relatively new, built in 1996 compared to the other stations existing since 1898.
The Neue Donau was also constructed to avoid flooding of the then 21st district. It was at the same time developed into a family fun park area where sports, swimming, cycling, grilling or simply naked sunbathing is possible. The Donauturm was also erected in the area, a revolving restaurant at 160 metres high where Vienna could be seen.

ReplyDeleteI like your night shots of the river. You said it should be freezing over enough for skating...you will need a lot more cold weather by the looks of it!
