Last week, when I showed photos of high-rise buildings in the city, I got comments stating that some thought Vienna is only of old and classic buildings. Well, with preservation, the old buildings still thrive, but modern architecture has also taken its place in the city.

This building is actually one of the Zuwanderer Fonds' apartments, which one can rent fully-furnished. The rent on this particular apartments costs from 500-960Euros depending on the size, which ranges from 29-59 sq mtrs.

(Rents in other Zuwanderer fond apartments differ.)

Opposite this building is the Vienna International Center, the one I posted last week. The zuwanderer fonds building is particularly opposite Tech Gate. These two buildings are separated by a main street and the U1 trainline as you see part of the tracks in above photo. I was standing on the platform when I took this shot, I wanted to actually take a photo of the church's spires but I wasn't carrying my zoom lens so I settled for the buildings as the sun sets and gives off this subtle colors.

I know, its not yet Skywatch but I can't wait for Thursday to post this... =D

Here's to a fun week for us!

  9. That first photo is so lovely! Adore the shape of the building! It waves gently like soothing water ripples! Not sure I would be comfortable living in such a high rise, but I can appreciate the ambient architecture!

  10. Amazing photos. And you're right, I wouldn't have associated this view with Vienna. Singapore? Sure. Dubai? You bet. Even Hong Kong. But I just never thought of Vienna in this style. Very cool counterpoint!

  11. An apartment building? I would have thought a business building.
Everywhere the old must coincide with the new.

  15. Hi Gizelle! It's nice, but I still prefer the old «imperial» Vienna buildings... ;))
For the time being Blogtrotter is departing Armenia. It leaves you however with a view that Tsar Nicholas didn’t see… ;))

  20. The high-rise building actually fits in well with the old city. The modern seems to have a few interesting characteristics, a with the mix of curves and shapes. This is not totally unlike the old buildings which have so many interesting features. Lots of details in modern...and really attractive. I've not been to Vienna, but it looks nice.
