Basa (Wet)

We see this beauty while wandering around the Volksgarten. That's also where all those lovely roses I posted weeks ago were. While taking photos, it occurred to me that mother duck is actually posing for the camera...at this instant showing off that she can stand - balance with one foot!

Below are her ducklings all wet and trying to dry up on the planks at the pond they're into. The father duck was there too in another plank looking out to them....they've become part of the garden's attraction, almost more famous than the statue situated at the middle of the pond. :)

Nippon-Ya

The last time I featured Nippon-Ya was a few days before the big quake hit Japan. I bought takoyaki and some bentou accessories and we were with Kuya O (my scholar friend) and an aunt then.

I love this little shop even if I would often get lost looking for it. Now, I exactly know where it is and I can come any time I want. It's a shop alright...but I like hanging out here because this is the closest I can get to anything Japanese. The cashier is now a friend when before she was a bit hesitant...she would almost always talk to me in Japanese and I would scour my head for the little Nihongo I know...My kids also love it there, we find the cutest stuff and our favorite Japanese treats!

Theseus Temple and Weekend Blog Follower Caravan 15

The refurbishing of this magnificent replica of the Theseus temple is finally finished. I haven't had the chance to take a photo of this when it was all dirty and vandalized, hopefully I won't! It just means that people around here - tourist and locals are being rude if I do! :( This replica has been in the city since the 1800s and is already a historical icon on its own as other building around the area. It has always been my want to visit Greece as it is my dad's favorite place, for now I'm happy seeing a part of it here.

Hofburg at the back

Hundred of years in existence and a number of emperors living in this historic architecture made Vienna's main Palace the biggest in the city. For today I am showing you the back part....a view from the side of the butterfly house.

Breitenfelder Kirche

I often pass by this church when I'm in the train going home. I never got the chance to take a photo of it until last week. Too bad I can only come this near as we were in a hurry to go to the city center. - The kids were hungry lol.

The Breitenfelder Kirche/Church lies between the belts Florianigasse and Feldgasse - a busy area very near the University. From the above perspective you wouldn't really see a triangle no? But from below I know you would. :)

Smell the sky

That's what I did when I passed by Vienna's Volksgarten. You know what they say, stop! take time to smell the flowers? I did that literally and enjoyed it much because the smell included a lovely sky. ^_^

The Volksgarten is like a hidden fortress for the locals and a newly found paradise for tourists.

Volksgarten

I am definitely going back to this place. The Volksgarten, laden with roses of different colors and sizes just across the Parliament is frequented by people with penchant for romance. Oooppps! Actually just people who want to enjoy the flowers on any day given are here. Will post more soon.

A goddess

A statue of  goddess  at the city park. She must be a goddess related to water, the pillar has a faucet where visitors could have a cool drink.

Garden Clock

Stadtpark, Vienna - May 30,2011

This is a functioning clock at the Stadtpark (City Park). Since spring came, Unsere Gärten (Our gardens), as you can see inscripted above the clock, has been maintaining the flowers, plants and basically all gardens around the city.

On a side note, I find flowers as an inspiration, taking online photography classes can really pay off if I'd like to make much prettier photographs. I found some course at Guide to Online Schools and have been considering enrolling myself. This could be different now from what I learned in photography (using an SLR) 12 or more years ago.

I take them as pelargonien like these flowers from the sidestreet but I could be wrong.
