cauliflower lie flowers lila

29 October 2008

I do not exactly know what they are called but I assume them to be cabbage flowers. These are really attractive flowers planted mostly on autumns. Like cabbage, they grow best in colder regions so it's the best time for the city gardeners to display them along with paquerettes (daisies).

Violet cabbage flowers are arranged with white paquerettes while white cabbage flowers goes with maroon.
I wonder though if they are edible...but such beauty is something I would rather display than eat.

  9. Lovely plant.
My 'cabbage flower' - I also don't know it's name - survived last winter in the flowerbox near the window, so it was nice even in spring... (Erica's were gone). I took periodically off rotten leaves under the plant, the top was OK.
