The Roßauer Barracks (Roßauerlände 1) is the head office of the Bundesministerium für Landesverteidigung or Austria's Ministry for National Defense.

Since 1956 as Federal Ministry, the Austrian administrative mechanism of the federation was designated for national defense and is responsible for all military affairs, in particular those, which concern the Austrian Armed Forces.

In January 2007 Norbert Darabos was appointed Minister of Defense. His work is focused on the reform of the Armed Forces as well as on Austria's contribution to international peace-keeping and humanitarian operations.
