Theme Day - Graffiti, Street Art

grafitti

28 February 2008
Taken while in a moving train.
There are other grafitti in Vienna that are worth blogging about, those that are artistically painted at the 1st district, or at the underground station which depicts human and other visible art. I chose this one because it makes me wonder how the street artists were able to do it here, at the side of the elevated train tracks.

Today is City Daily Photoblog's Theme Day. Other cities have also participated so please go bloghopping and see what they feature today.

  1. Isn't it amazing? I've seen graffiti in places that make you wonder if the "artists" ;) where dangling from a helicopter or something. Interesting choice, Gizelle.

  2. Graffiti in out of the way, inaccessible places must attract a different kind of "artist." Happy Theme Day. Enjoy your weekend.

  3. Yeah Fenix, it seems they're into the risk and thrill of how difficult it is to paint on certain areas.

  4. (clueless in boston), sorry i lost your name again...thanks! I think those are the adventurous ones really...how dangerous is it just to be on the train tracks?

  5. I often wonder the same thing...the danger must be part of the appeal.

  6. quickly I'd guess. And yes, a different type of artist indeed; one or more with little fear.

Gizelle, your theme contests in the Philippines sound like fun for the children. -:)

  7. @southern heart: I somehow picture a constant chase between these artists and the police lol.

@Chuck, it really was fun, though I never participated in it =D Its also surprising how well the children can paint so good, I enjoy looking at the murals as I pass them by while inside the bus.

Definitely Joy, but it makes me wonder, this is far from the station itself.

Thanks Greg, will visit yours too!

  12. It's in front of such a beautiful building. I like the colours but my eye is drawn to the building.

  13. Since graffiti is part of self expression, guess how to make it stand out adds to the satisfaction.

  14. Hi Jilly! That part of the building must be the 4th floor and up...since I was in a moving train it got focused than the graffiti =)

  16. From the moving train! Nice shot, I have to say.
We do not have train any more in Nelson for long time. So no sight like this that I knew. But, I guess side of railway is quite popular place to do graffiti.

  17. It seems so Murphy_jay, like its a challenge, can you do that on the side of the train? =D

  18. Thanks Edwin, did lost some focus though. =)

Hi Ben! It makes it even difficult if they do the graffiti at night I think, if they do it when the sun is up, it won't be as thrilling as is...

  19. Those are daring guys that get up there to do that. They must feel a bit secluded while they are up there working, and also a bit of a rush from the danger and having to watch for the train. Fast workers, I imagine.
Hope you are enjoying the weekend!

  24. Yes Neva, either they do it very quick or at night....which makes it more difficult... :-) thanks so much!
